When Lord Davies of Abersoch visited Mickey’s Boatyard & Beach Cafe, the inspiring views instigated a conversation that led to £10,000 being raised for Abersoch RNLI and Pwllheli RNLI just three weeks later. Lord Davies and Andrew Donaldson, one of Mickey’s owners, got to know each other when they started chatting about coffee, good food and Mervyn’s Jeanne Vineyard in France, and the two of them hatched a plan to host a cheese and wine afternoon at Mickey’s, with singer Joe Slater also performing the day after at Mickey’s family event weekend.

The event was a huge success and raised an extraordinary £10,000 for the local RNLI stations, thanks in no small part to the donation of a brand-new jet ski by local company Ideal Boat, based at Pwllheli, which was auctioned over the weekend.
